Flip over any mainstream energy drink and you'll see the same thing: massive doses of B vitamins. B3 (niacin) at 200% DV. B6 at 250%. B12 at 8,000% or more. The numbers look impressive — and that's exactly the point. But impressive numbers on a label don't mean impressive results in your body.

Niacin (B3): Many energy drinks use nicotinic acid, which at doses above 35mg can cause "niacin flush" — that uncomfortable skin-reddening, itchy, burning sensation. Some people experience this after a single energy drink. It's not dangerous, but it's unpleasant and completely avoidable with better-quality niacin forms (like niacinamide). But niacinamide costs more, so most brands use the cheap version.

The Absorption Problem
